ZHIK, the makers of the best water sports apparel, have agreed to outfit me in wet weather gear for the trip! This is great news since foulies are essential equipment that I couldn't go to sea without, but they are really expensive to purchase. If you are looking for great gear for sailing, paddleboarding, kayaking, surfing, etc. check out their website.
Pen pals finally get to meet in person! Today Jade and Char got together for the first time at KiwiYo in Botony Downs. The store shouted the girls an ice cream and they filled up on ice cream and lollies as they chatted away about anything and everything. Seven Sharp came along to get some footage and interview the girls and Char's mum Pam. The piece will screen on Seven Sharp later on in April. The hardest part of the day was having to say goodbye when it was time for Char and Pam to catch the ferry back to Waiheke.
Linda and the team at Waiuku Health and Fitness have joined the 'Rowing for Charlotte' support crew!
Linda and I compared my pipis to her muscles and she sent me home with a bag of protein powder to bulk up for the Pacific Row! Fiona is working me hard and making sure my body is up for the battering of waves, waves, and more waves...

How fast can you cover 500m on a rowing machine? Are you the fastest male or female over 1000m? Have you got what it takes to try to beat an Olympian over 2km (6 min 33.35 sec for men, 7 min 07.71 sec for women) ? Linda has a challenge coming up for you-more details will be revealed next week. Until then, get rowing!
I had a great chat with Simon and Gary from MoreFM this morning! Listen tomorrow (11 May) to the breakfast show if you are keen to catch the whole interview. Hope to post an audio file of it after the interview airs.
What a great Friday today turned out to be. The first corporate sponsors have 'come on board'! The wonderful Tristan from Safety at Sea/Kiwi Yachting has offered sponsorship, in conjunction with McMurdo Smartfind, for a Personal Locator Beacon. They are also sponsoring a safety line and harness! This wishlist is shrinking folks! Thank you so much Safety at Sea/Kiwi Yachting for supporting the Pacific Row and Rowing for Charlotte!
