It's official, Angela and I have set a departure date and it is the 15th of May, so put it in your diaries folks. That means we have 31 days left to get ourselves and our boat 'The Spirit of Orlando' ready to go. Luckily for me, the boat is at Angela's place and she is taking care of things from her end so we can make our ETD. The 15th of May is a very significant day because it marks the 3rd anniversary of the death of Orlando Rogers, a fellow competitor of ours in the 2007 Atlantic Rowing Race. Orlando lost his life when the Tiger Moth plane he was a passenger in crashed to the ground in 2011. Orlando was jut 26 years old. My family, and the rest of the Unfinished Business family members, had the pleasure of waiting at the finish line in Antigua with Orlando's mum Julia and sister Jade since we were all due in at roughly the same time. We got a lot of enjoyment out of beating those boys and there was a fair amount of good natured teasing that took place in the Caribbean in the days following all of our finishes. He is missed by so many and it will be an honour to row the Pacific in a boat named after him.
